When Should You Book a Pregnancy Scan?

You should book your first pregnancy scan after a positive pregnancy test, ideally between 6–8 weeks. This early scan confirms the pregnancy, checks the baby’s heartbeat, and estimates your due date. If you experience pain, bleeding, or have previous complications, consult your doctor immediately.

At 6–8 Weeks

This early scan confirms the pregnancy, checks the baby’s heartbeat, determines the number of babies, and estimates the due date. It also helps detect any early concerns.

At 11–14 Weeks

The NT scan evaluates early fetal development and screens for chromosomal abnormalities, ensuring healthy growth in the first trimester.

At 18–22 Weeks

The anomaly scan provides a detailed check of the baby’s organs, brain, heart, spine, and overall development.

In the Third Trimester

Growth scans monitor the baby’s weight, position, amniotic fluid levels, and placental function to ensure safe preparation for delivery.

Your doctor may advise additional scans if needed to closely monitor your baby’s growth and ensure a safe pregnancy.
